What is the Father Blog?

The Father Blog is meant to be a journey. My intent is to post thoughts about what it means to be my father’s son and what it means to be a father myself. Like all good journeys, mine starts with a map. I do have some expectations, but I’ll gladly ditch the plan if the trip uncovers a more exciting route.     Henry Ward Beecher once said, “We never know the love of our parents for us till we have become parents”, and I’m discovering just how true that is.  I’ve always loved my dad, but until I began raising my own kids, I didn’t truly appreciate his love for me or the sacrifices he made.  They were many.  I also didn’t start uncovering the layers of our relationship until he passed away.  I’m slowly discovering what it really means to be a son and what it means to be a dad.   My hope is that as this blog evolves, the journey will be one of learning, of healing, and of inspiration and I hope you’ll experience all of that right alongside me.  I encourage you to post comments or ask questions as you read my posts or those of guest bloggers.  I can’t wait to see where the path leads so I hope you’ll join me.

Your mom told me about your website this AM in church. Congratulations to you !! A great idea and a wonderful tribute to your father.
